What is your job in company?

I was assigned to the section which assembles instruments. I currently perform inspections on assembled instruments. I mainly handle X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy microprobes.

What keeps you motivated?

It's really fun to actually operate and inspect the instruments with my hands. But there are still many things I don't know yet, so my seniors have to correct me (laughs). I'm working very hard so that I can be an integral part of my team as soon as possible.

What made you decide to work for ULVAC-PHI?

In a word, I was interested in analytical instruments. When I was in college, I never had the chance to operate analytical instruments (the kind that ULVAC-PHI handles) on my own, but I did know about them, and the basics of how they work, which I was also interested in. When I was searching for a job, I was looking for companies that handle analytical instruments, and I heard that a lot of the people who graduated before me in college worked at companies like this, so I had a sense of familiarity toward the company, which was another reason.

Is there something you learned in college that you find useful today?

I created a presentation document after joining the company, and it was praised for being easy to understand. I think this was a result of how I was taught in college that in academic meetings, when explaining something complex, I should always try to break things down and simplify them. Even today, when I want to communicate something to someone, I do my best to explain everything as simply as possible so that it's easy to understand.

What are your future dreams and goals?

I want to work in a division that works more closely with customers. I want to make proposals to customers about the ways they can use our instruments, and offer solutions to the problems they face. This is the sort of work I want to engage in.
